Why I'm running for Hudson City Council

Hudson is a community built on connection - neighbors supporting neighbors, families building a future together. I'm running for Hudson City Council because I believe our local government should reflect those same values: fostering community listening with respect, and working together to create a Hudson where everyone feels included and heard.

By investing in what matters - safety, community spaces, and modern infrastructure - and supporting our small businesses that make our economy more dynamic and our downtown spaces vibrant, WE CAN MAKE HUDSON EVEN STRONGER.

With thoughtful leadership focused on collaboration, not division, we can speed up the pace of government, save taxpayer dollars, and deliver the progress our community deserves.

MY VISION FOR HUDSON

I support the first responders who keep Hudson safe. To meet the needs of our growing community, I'll advocate for right-sizing the fire department by transitioning to a hybrid model and eventually a full-time department. When we invest in public safety, we invest in peace of mind for every Hudson family and business.

Strong communities need places where people can come together. I'll work with residents to create the spaces Hudson families want - from updating playgrounds to be more inclusive, to supporting our library's efforts, and creating new gathering spaces that bring all generations together, increasing the walkability and foot traffic important for many local businesses.

Hudson's future depends on smart investments in modern infrastructure. I'll prioritize expanding high-speed fiber broadband to every home, helping Hudson stay competitive in an economy increasingly driven by remote work and innovation. Fast, reliable internet isn't a luxury - it's a necessity for families and businesses alike.

A Lifetime of Service, A Commitment to Hudson

I'm Dr. Amanda Weinstein - an economist, a veteran, a mom, and a proud Hudson resident. For years, I've helped small towns across America build stronger economies by investing in what matters: modern infrastructure, small business growth, workforce development, and quality of life. Now, I'm ready to bring that same expertise home.

From my time serving in the United States Air Force - programming drone systems and advising top military leadership - to earning my Ph.D. in agricultural, environmental, and development economics at The Ohio State University, I've dedicated my life to solving complex challenges with real-world solutions.

Whether advising the Governor on tax policy or helping lead the Center on Rural Innovation's work to revitalize small towns, I believe in practical, thoughtful leadership that delivers results.

In Hudson, my passion for service continues. I've been a Girl Scout troop leader, an advocate for the Hudson Inclusive Playground, and a parent deeply engaged in our community's future. Together with my husband, State Senator Casey Weinstein, we're raising our three children - Nora, Emilia, and Brady - right here in the town we love and are proud to call home.
